Meet the PAML Principal

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.  My name is Matt Young and I am the new Principal here at PAML.  I am honored to have been invited to join a school with as rich a culture as PAML and I am so looking forward to being a part of the larger PAML community.  This year marks my 16th year in education. I began my career as an elementary Physical Education teacher in Lake Placid, New York, for 10 years. As I transitioned to Vermont I completed internship experiences at Montpelier High School and in the Mount Mansfield Unified Union School District while teaching Physical Education at Camels Hump Middle School.  For the last four years I was the Principal at Doty Memorial School in Worcester, Vermont. Throughout all of my experience in the field I have remained focused on creating safe and valuable school experiences for students, and I plan to continue that focus here at PAML.

As we prepare to kick off the 2019-2020 school year I would like to learn as much as I can about PAML and the communities we serve.  I would like to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to meet with me and share some thoughts about PAML.

During our conversation I’ll use the following questions as prompts:

What are the strengths of the school and community?

What are the areas we might work on to improve?

What are your expectations for me as your principal?

What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming school year?

Please make an appointment with my assistant, Nikki Griffin ([email protected] or at the phone number above), if you plan to meet with me.  My schedule is very flexible in this early part of July and I am eager to connect with as many members of our community as possible.
