ABOUT UNBOUND Unbound extends the school day for Peoples Academy and Peoples Academy Middle Level students with fun activities that promote friendship, the arts, wellness, and achievement in learning and life. Unbound is supported by the generous funding of the Vermont Department of Education - Twenty-first Century Community Learning Centers and Promising Practices grants, the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, the Vermont Children’s Trust Fund, River Arts, the Clarina Howard Nichols Center, and the Morristown School District. The Lamoille County Court Diversion Program and Clarina Howard provide educational development and assistance in Unbound programs. The Vermont Arts Council, Friends of Lamoille Youth, the Lamoille Family Center, the Lamoille Area Recreation Center, the Vermont Department of Labor, and UVM Extension-4H also contribute to the success of Unbound. UNBOUND STUDENTS Students who attend Peoples Academy or PA Middle level or live in Morristown or Elmore in grades 6-12 are eligible to participate in Unbound courses. Students wishing to attend who live in another town should contact the Unbound office at 888-6725 or unbound@morrisville.org before signing up. TUITION AND FEES The cost of Unbound courses is determined by the number of hours the classes meet, usually at $1 per hour of class-time. Another factor is the funding source; numerous grants pay for Unbound programs, so not all courses can be funded at the same rates. Non-payment of course fees may jeopardize a student’s ability to participate in future Unbound courses. Students who are eligible for free or reduced meals receive free tuition. Except for SAT PREP, all academic support courses are free for students. HEALTHY SNACKS BEFORE CLASS At 2:45pm, healthy, localvore snacks and drinks are served in the cafeteria for students attending Unbound courses. All students in grades 6-8 must wait in the cafeteria until their courses begin, usually at 3pm. |
