SUBJECT: SCIENCE - PHYSICS

UNIT: MOTION and FORCES

OVERVIEW:

In Team Rio's next science unit students will explore the following principles of physics (mechanics)

1. Speed

2. Mass

3. Acceleration

4. Momentum

5. Velocity

6. Force

*Students will also begin to investigate laws of motion developed by Isaac Newton.

INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES

Forces and Motion Classroom Site (Nice ideas and layout)

Forces & Motion - Principles of Aeronautics

Newton 's laws govern how airplanes, or any object, react when forces like lift and drag are applied to them. This section contains lessons that demonstrate Newton 's laws of motion in action.

Forces & Motion (Practical Physics)

Nice collection of information and experiments that classes can utilize to explore the concepts of force & motion.

STUDENT INTERACTIVE

BUILDING BIG - Forces Lab (PBS): Students can learn about squeezing, stretching, bending, sliding and twisting through visual tools that they can manipulate. The authors also provide information on loads, materials, and shapes. "Building Big" analyzes tunnels, bridges, domes, skyscrapers, and dams, and provides fact sheets about famous examples of these projects around the world.

Energy, Forces, and Motion

These pages are designed to help you with GCSE "Mechanics". This is the area of Physics that deals with forces, motion and the energies involved.

STUDENT READING
Current Science - Word Document Assignment Sheet (Save a copy to your own folder).

Forces & Motion : A good reading resource for understanding the basic principles and formulas related to forces and motion.
