Bartleby: publishes the classics of literature, nonfiction, and reference free of charge for the home, classroom, and desktop of each and every Internet participant. Rapidcite: is a FREE MLA, APA, Chicago style citation generator.  Students simply enter information into formatted style guides.
Web English Teacher: takes advantage of online technology to share ideas and to benefit from the work of others. Beginning teachers can find guidance; experienced teachers can find inspiration. Do You Speak American? is the companion website for a film that takes us cross-country to examine the dynamic state of American English. Topics include 100 common mispronunciations, how language is changing, local color in American literature, and regional writers.
The Word Detective: the online version of The Word Detective, a newspaper column answering readers' questions about words and language. ABCtales: A site where students can explore their creative writing skills, get support from the site's editors, publish their short stories and poems online, get feedback and writing tips and meet fellow writers, all for free!

Ghost stories and strange folktales of the American South, told by the region's most celebrated storytellers.
Author Yellow Pages: is a searchable directory of author websites. Blast - Writing: This is a student-centered website (UK) that has a rich set of resources for students to examine, reflect, and improve writing skills.
A+ Research & Writing: is an exemplary guide for students that are engaged in researching or writing assignments. Presentation Skills: Being a good presenter involves four main areas of skill and preparation according to this author. These areas are content, structure, packaging and the human element.
Project Gutenberg: is the Internet's oldest producer of FREE electronic books (eBooks or eTexts). NCTE: an excellent collection of high-quality resources for teachers to use in a "English" classroom. There are units of work, links to associated web sites as well as support material and discussion on English teaching methodology and pedagogy.
Talking to George Orwell: the headings of his novels, non-fiction and journalism, his working life, his private life and the world of George Orwell. Paradigm: The Online Writing Assistant is an excellent online tutorial which assists students in revising and editing their writing as well as providing insights and how to write explorative essays, argumentative essays formal and informal essays.
Paragraph Punch: This site takes users through the actual steps of writing a basic paragraph. The focus of the site is to encourage students to build structure into each of the paragraphs that they compose. Questia: The world's largest online library. With over 47,000 books and 375,000 journal, magazine and newspaper articles, this virtual online library is an excellent education resource.
Read*Write*Think: a fantastic collection of free, high-quality resources for teachers of English. RefDesk: This portal site contains almanacs, books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, news, maps, and more.
CyberGuides: are supplementary, standards-based, web-delivered units of instruction centered on core works of literature. Each CyberGuide contains a student and teacher edition, standards, a task and a process by which it may be completed, teacher-selected web sites and a rubric. English Literature Resources: This site was designed for courses in the UK, but it has a nice listing of English Literature resources that can be accessed through the site.
Guide to Grammar & Writing: A nice site for student composition. Teaching English Composition: A teacher resource fat with ideas and information.
High School Journalism: A must for Journalism teachers. This site holds a vast assortment of great resources. High School Journalism Guide:

designed to help today's scholastic journalists improve their skills. This guide offers information and tips from some of the top working professionals and media experts in the industry.

World Literature Today: interviews and original poetry and fiction from around the globe, lively essays on writers and regional trends, authors on books that changed their lives. Anthology of World Literature: Designed as a springboard to help students extend their exploration of world literature and identify and frame topics for writing and research.
