The Transition to Geneva

This place is amazing! I can’t believe the size of these mountains. The chalet was very clean and enjoyable. Last night the sauna was perfect. We went snowboarding and sledding at Saanenmoser, a resort about 30 minutes up from Chateau d’Oex. It was enormous. I had one of the hardest laughs when Audry, Jake, lane and I were sitting at the bottom of a ski slope. We were eating our lunch with our snowboards off to the side. While we ate, these little kids kept hitting our snowboards. Finally one slammed into Audry’s board and Jake’s subconscious took over. He turned to the kid in the little yellow ski suit and yelled “AAHHHH” with his hands raised in the air . He might as well have hit the kid. We laughed for five minuets straight.
Today we leave for Geneva. We will become students of their school for 3 days. We will receive our own classes and schedules.
I have really enjoyed speaking with the locals, as soon as you speak French to them you are no longer an ignorant American, and they enjoy talking to you. The clouds just rolled in and I’m hoping for snow.
It still hasn’t hit home that I’m actually in Europe. –Alex

Everything here is so pretty, its hard to believe that we are actually spending time in the alps, although the lack of snow was kind of bizarre. Just being here has been incredibly relaxing. Even though I did spend a good portion of yesterday sick, I am very sad to have to leave the gorgeous town of Chateau D’Oex. -Andrea

After another beautiful train ride we made it back to Geneva where the host families were waiting to retrieve all of us. It was amazing how, after spending so much time together, we dispersed and went our separate ways. I can report that my host family is wonderful. The six of us shared a delicious meal of fondue while getting to know each other a bit. I only hope everyone else has had as enjoyable an evening with their host families as I have had with mine. Tomorrow we will all see each other at school and on our trip to the Red Cross Museum. -Jen

Hey Steph,
This blog stuff is great! I'm printing off everything as it comes through, so you'll have an instant scrapbook when you get back. I'm sure you'll have lots more pictures to add. Be sure to take one of your host family. Tell Nadia we said "Hi!" Also tell Casey and Audrey hello.
Talk to you soon.
Love, Mom

Hi, Wolves en Geneve--
Being able to follow your trip and read your reactions has been tres fun. By the way, the quality of the writing has been pas mal. You get high scores for Voice and Tone! We keep digging out at PA. The snow was half-way up the glass windows in the cafeteria, for example, and we are just now getting around to it. I would love to hear your observations about how the school you visit compares to PA. I've always gotten good ideas when I've visited other schools. a bientot, Otho Thompson

Hey guys!
Sounds like you all are having a blast! Wish that I was old enough to have gone too. Il fait froid et neige.. Burrr.. Quel temps fait-il?
Hope to talk to you soon. Oh, by the way, Steph, Cathy Mayo is really looking forward to talking to you. I think that she emailed you. Just thought I'd let you know.
