We will have a weekly walk from the Graded Building on the Thursdays in Oct. (except for 10/23-no school)
The Kindergarten and 1st Graders who have a signed permission slip will walk from the Graded Building up the hill to People's Academy and back to the Graded Building leaving school at 7:45 am and be back by 8 am. Students who are ordinarily dropped off by car can also join in the walk with a signed permission slip.
The 2nd through 5th Graders who have a signed permission slip can get off the bus at the Graded Building and walk to the Elementary Building. Students who are ordinarily dropped off by car can be dropped off at the Graded Building and also join in the walk. Volunteer parents and staff will help as crossing guards and walk with groups of students. The buses drop off students between 7:30 and 7:45 am at the Graded Building, so we ask that parents who drop off students do so during that time.
This walk is approximately 1/2 mile and the activity and benefits for students are numerous. There is a great website about the International Walk to School Initiative
