Leigh Lamphere has been a music teacher for kindergarten through grade 5 at the Morristown Elementary School since 1985.  Leigh made significant contributions to the Morristown school community during her 22 year tenure. 

In addition to learning the fundamentals of music, students were exposed to many levels of the performing arts, from viewing theater productions to actually participating in drama productions.  Leigh accomplished this with help from many volunteers, her husband, Brian, and sons, Phillip and Nathan.  Leigh is most known in the community for these stellar productions with as many as 90 students participating in all aspects of producing a quality performance.  Leigh laid the foundation for students to become skilled and excited about drama and musical productions as they moved through our system.  Over the years, the Select Chorus, which Leigh also directed, has sung on the local radio, on television (CBS This Morning), and at Johnson State College with Opera North in “Hansel and Gretel”.   Leigh has dedicated her professional life to teaching the students at Morristown Elementary School.  Recently, she received special recognition and an award from The Vermont Alliance for the Arts.  She was honored for her accomplishments in Arts Education for children in the community.   

Leigh leaves a legacy that will continue to have an enormous positive impact on children and their families for years to come.

For students who would like to share their feelings, please use the musical memory tribute page; students are welcome to color, write, or draw about a favorite memory or write a message for Ms. Lamphere’s family.  These can be mailed to the Morristown Elementary School, 548 Park Street, Morrisville, VT  05661, or dropped off at the elementary school office.  We will deliver these memories to her family.
