TAKE ACTION

Do your students have any invention ideas of their own? Would they like to?

Here is a curriculum set designed by the United States Patent and Trademark Office called:

The Inventive Thinking Curriculum Project

* This document is over 60 pages long and includes copy masters and extra resources that can be printed out.

Do your students have inventions that they're proud of?

Have them enter one of these competitions:

  • Bayer/NSF Award
Sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students working in teams of three or four identify an issue they care about and use science and technology to develop an innovative solution. They work with experts, conduct research and put their ideas to the test, just like adult scientists.
  • Craftsman/NSTA Young Inventors Awards
The Craftsman/NSTA Young Inventors Awards Program challenges students to use creativity and imagination along with science, technology, and mechanical ability to invent or modify a tool.
  • Invent America Competition
