OVERVIEW: Description of project/unit/lesson. Try to construct an overview, for an audience including students and parents, that provides a clear outline of activities, expectations, and outcomes.  The overview should not be detailed to the point that it overlaps into other sections of the Learning Module Design.  Just highlight the key ingredients and try to generate excitement about getting started.  Encourage support from parents and let them know that examples of student work will be published in the Portfolio section.

Past student artifacts can be meaningful examples, helping students understand opportunities and expectations for different tasks.

Consider constructing the overview in letter or outline form.  It should be a printable document that you go over with students and sent home to communicate with parents at the start of the project/unit. Linking it to the Learning Module Toolbar will allow students or parents to access the document or obtain an additional copy if the original printed copy is lost.

Tools: Microsoft Word, Flashpaper, PDF.

TASK(S): The tasks involved with the Learning Module can be thought of as the building blocks students might use to construct their understanding as they work to meet or exceed learning expectations.  Each task should contribute an opportunity for students to broaden their intellectual capacity and learning skills.

RESOURCES: These are the tools and information sources that students will use to accomplish the learning objectives that are set out in the Task(s).  Provide links to online resources/tools or to files containing information that students will use.  You might also use the resource section to list local resources that students could find in the school or public library.  Resources could include events such as a local museum display, a theater performance, public speaker, television show, etc.  Be careful about copyright laws with any content you reproduce as a resource.
