About HIVE

Welcome to the HIVE Technology Integration Portal.  This online environment is being developed to help the Morrisville educational community connect with online resources, tools, and organizations that can positively impact our mission as an educational system.  These assets are cataloged into the Hive Portal navigation-table on the left side of this page.

The structure of this site will evolve in the coming year as input is sought from stakeholders that the Portal serves.  We will also enable the capacity for select stakeholders to contribute to the growth and refinement of the Portal; moving the Portal toward a point where the stakeholders sustain and enhance the Portal independently.  The goal is to develop the HIVE into a place buzzing with activity from those that make up the Morrisville educational community.

District Integration Spotlight

ATOMIC LEARNING: This school year Morristown School District is taking important steps to become increasingly efficient with promoting and supporting the integration of technology in the classroom.

One important step is access students, teachers, and parents have through a new partnership with Atomic Learning, a nationally respected provider of web-based software training.

Atomic Learning's "just-in-time" approach to software training focuses on answering the common questions encountered when learning and using software.  Need to know how to cut and paste in Word? Is your child making a PowerPoint presentation and looking for your help? Atomic Learning has step-by-step tutorials (narrated movies) on over 45 of the most common software applications that help enable the use of technology to enhance both teaching and learning. Middle Level Teachers Go Back to School:  Teachers at People's Academy Middle Level will kick-off a year long effort to enhance their own technology skills and restructure student ePortfolios.  Classes will begin on Monday, September 20th and will include several hours of after-school instruction and activity each month through May of 2005.  A focus of this year's effort will be to help Middle Level teachers develop a Class Website that can expand learning resources available to their students and enhance communication with students and their parents.  Teachers will also be examining the use of student ePortfolios as meaningful artifacts in the educational environment.  Teacher will work collaboratively to set goals for reintroducing portfolios as important student assets and as valued assessment tools for evaluating and enhancing learning at the Middle Level.  For more on the Middle Level Technology Integration Course ... click here.
Elementary Students Become Global Authors:  Students in the 4th Grade at Morristown Elementary and Stowe Elementary age getting a chance to become authors.  Students will be working on their literacy skills, but they will also be engaged in a project that extends far beyond the classroom; demonstrating how technology is creating global connections that will impact how people work together in the future.  These young authors will be working in partnership with students in Singapore and Great Britain to write an original Fairy Tale book.  The book will be constructed into a multi-user virtual environment (MUVE).  The image to the left provides a glimpse of this 3D interactive environment.  Students, around the world, can gather together in this environment much like they gather together with students in their own classroom.  For more information on this exciting project ... click here!
Freshman Focus Takes Aim at H.S.
