Clicking on the theme icon-toolbar above (Overview, Components, Resources, and Showcase) will allow you to explore the 4th Grade's sixteen-week study of Vermont . Description of Unit: Studying the state of Vermont will allow students to understand the historical roots of their state beginning with the arrival of native cultures to the Champlain Valley region. Our study will move through time to look at the cultural, political, economic, and geological changes throughout several eras of Vermont history. For the purpose of targeting specific Grade Expectations, our study of Vermont has been broken down into four main components: History , Political & Cultural Geography , Civics, Government & Society , and Economics . Each component has an essential question that students will be exploring, while learning the concepts of the component. For each concept within a component, focusing questions are presented to identify essential content. Also identified for each concept are activities that students may experience in their classrooms and resources that may be used by individual teachers to present the content. Next: Click on the Components icon in the toolbar above to see a detailed outline of the unit components. |
