The
students of Morristown Elementary School receive their baseball/softball
experience through the Morrisville Baseball/Softball
Association (MBSA). The MBSA has provided
this service to children of Morristown and Elmore for well
over 30 years. The association is comprised of a volunteer
board that works with the Lamoille County Baseball/Softball
Association. The program is dependent on volunteers
to step forward to coach, umpire and become part of the
operating board. Registration for the program takes place
in March. At present MBSA has about 230 children involved
from age 5-15 years old. Teams start games in May and
finish games about the time school is done for the year.
Some players try-out for the Lamoille County All-Stars at
the various levels and play into mid July.
Five
and six year olds play on a coed t-ball team while the 7
and 8 year olds play coed Rookie Ball. Rookie ball involves
an adult pitching to the players. Nine year olds play on
a Minor Little League team. Ten to twelve year olds play
either on a Minor or a Major Little League team. Evaluations
are conducted prior to the start of the season to place
9-12 year olds on a team. Thirteen to fifteen year olds
play on a Babe Ruth Team. Fifteen year olds drop down to
join their team once they have finished their commitment
with the JV/Varsity teams at Peoples Academy.
We
are trying to cut the costs for families. Please donate
if you have any equipment that may be used by others. Cleets,
helmets, bats and gloves that are in good working condition
should be brought to your coach during the first week of
practice. Once everything has been sorted we can start
'swapping'. Let your coach know of your needs and we will
try to get the items to you as soon as possible. Remember,
all requests might not be honored. It is contingent
on what we receive.
